5 audition tips from bokcreative

We want you to shine! Take our favorite tips to heart and prepare like a pro:

{ read & reread }

Always read the audition brief thoroughly and understand the role you're auditioning for. Practice your lines or actions in advance, but also stay flexible as directors often ask you to improvise or change things quickly.

{ understand }

Understand the brand (if the brand is not disclosed then ask for the product type) by researching the company/product you're auditioning for. Educate yourself about the target audience, tone, and brand values so you can align your audition accordingly. Brands want to see that you connect with their identity and can deliver a performance that fits their messaging.

{ show natural energy }

Commercials often require a light, natural, and relatable delivery. Avoid overacting or being too dramatic unless specifically directed to do so. Casting directors want to see genuine emotion, and commercials are more about subtlety than exaggerated performances.

{ be confident & positive }

Walk into the audition with confidence, maintain a positive attitude, and be ready take direction! Casting directors want to see how well you handle being coached. If you are self-taping, maintain the same level of confidence and focus. Directors are looking for actors who can stay relaxed, are open to feedback, and are adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

{ dress appropriately }

Carefully select wardrobe options that reflect the role you are auditioning for, and avoid anything too flashy or distracting. Keep it simple and professional. Your clothing should help convey the character you're playing without overshadowing your performance.
